Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of BikeVitals (“the Service”), operated at bikevitals.com. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who can use the Service

• You must be at least 13 years old (16 if you are in the European Economic Area).
• You must provide accurate registration information and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for any activity under your account.
• One account per person. Don’t share credentials.

2. What the Service does

BikeVitals tracks bicycle components and helps you estimate when each part needs maintenance or replacement, based on rides you log manually or import from Strava. Estimates are informational only — they’re not professional mechanical advice. Inspect your equipment before riding; you are responsible for your own bike’s condition and your own safety.

3. Accounts, plans, and billing

Free plan

The free plan lets you track a limited number of bikes (currently one) and is available indefinitely at no cost.

Pro plan

• Price: $20 USD per year, billed via Stripe.
• What you get: unlimited bikes plus all features available to free users.
• Renewal: your subscription auto-renews at the same price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• Cancellation: cancel any time from Settings → Subscription → Manage. You keep Pro access until the end of the paid period; we do not pro-rate refunds on the unused portion.
• Refunds: if you cancel within 14 days of your first or renewal charge and you have not used the Pro features extensively, email hello@bikevitals.com for a full refund. Outside that window, refunds are at our discretion.
• Price changes: we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email before any price increase. You can cancel before the new price takes effect.
• Failed payments: if a charge fails, we will notify you and retry. If we cannot collect after Stripe’s standard retry window, your account reverts to the free plan and any bikes beyond the free-plan limit become read-only until you re-subscribe.
• Taxes: prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes, which you are responsible for.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Access the Service through automated means other than RSS-style polling at a reasonable rate; in particular, do not scrape pages, mass-create accounts, or probe for vulnerabilities outside our security policy.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code (beyond what is published as open source by us).
• Use the Service to send spam, infringe others’ rights, or violate any law.
• Resell or sublicense the Service.
• Submit data that you don’t have the right to use (e.g., another person’s Strava activity data).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where reasonable.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of everything you create or import (bike configurations, components, service notes, ride data). You grant us a limited license to store and process that content solely to provide the Service to you. We will not use your content for any other purpose.

6. Strava and other third-party services

• If you connect Strava, your use of Strava is governed by Strava’s own terms. BikeVitals is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Strava.
• BikeVitals relies on Strava’s API. If Strava changes or revokes API access, some import or sync features may stop working. We will make a reasonable effort to communicate but cannot guarantee continuity.
• Likewise, Stripe, Supabase, Vercel, and Resend are third-party providers whose terms apply where you interact with them.

7. Termination

• You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible; data is removed per the schedule in our Privacy Policy.
• We may terminate or suspend your account if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to prevent abuse. If we terminate without cause, we will refund any unused portion of a paid subscription on a pro-rata basis.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

• the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;
• wear estimates are accurate for your specific equipment, riding style, or conditions;
• third-party services (Strava, Stripe, Supabase) will remain available.

Mechanical-safety disclaimer. BikeVitals does not inspect, test, or certify your bicycle. Always perform a pre-ride safety check and consult a qualified mechanic when in doubt. Do not rely on BikeVitals alone to decide whether a part is safe to ride.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BikeVitals and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations. In those places, the above applies to the maximum extent permitted by local law.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify BikeVitals against claims, damages, and expenses arising from (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, (b) content you submit, or (c) your violation of any third party’s rights.

11. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email and shown in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that constitutes acceptance. If you don’t agree, delete your account before the change takes effect.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the courts of Ontario, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable statutory rights you may have.
